December 2006 A Busy Time
With three trips to Romania all ready this year it has been a busy time for our volunteers. The work has been divided between the ‘Oasis Vitilis’ in Cluj Northern Romania and ‘FAST’ a charity in Sacele southern Romania, having finished building a church in Zizin near Sacele we have concentrated on a the building of the Ziurel centre in the city of Sacele. The building started life as a boiler house with a forty foot chimney towering over it which has been demolished and a second floor added, by Romanian workers. In October a group of nineteen young people from ‘Nail the Truth Ministries’ in Sheffield came out to help. I have never seen young people work so diligently, putting up insulation board on the outside and plasterboard on the inside, some painted walls and ceilings, midweek we took the team to a castle for a well deserved break. At the end of the week we had a visit from the Mayor of Sacele who was very impressed with the progress on the building.
Back to Cluj
We saw this year the completion of the village school in Suceag. Plans are made to build a playground in 2007 (subject to funds) Thanks to the children of Widnes and Runcorn who gave us the Action men and Barbie doll’s we distribute to children who had never seen them before. gifts were also given to the street children for whom any act of kindness is gratefully appreciated. The plight of these homeless kids still gives us cause for concern, nevertheless we will continue working alongside the Romanian people who devote their time to this ever continuing problem.
Where it all comes from – Where it all goes
These are the questions that must enter the minds of many people when they hear about the work and the donations handed out by teams from Mission to Eastern Europe each year. Our answer to these questions is quite simple. Where it comes from, we don’t mind – Where it goes to, Where it’s needed. I do not mean to sound too flippant here; we really do appreciate the many donations that come from concerned people. We would like to assure our many sponsors and donators that the people who benefit from their kindness are very grateful. A big thank you from Mission to Eastern Europe.
